「臉不紅」的嬰兒 It does not put the baby to the blush

Last week when I found the light effect was not what I expected, a piece was still on the loom (TC-1).
After it is finished, the result is not satisfying. The UV light does not put the baby to the blush. There is an idea about weaving a series of works of "blush" for many years. I did weave some test pieces; but it needs direct sun light to make the color change. The yarn was ordered from U.S.A. and lost its ability after few years.
Because the problem is the bleached white warp will yield strong blue light (color), therefore the weave structure should be weft-faced. Or just use black warp.
Even though the effect is not good, the steel weft and white cotton warp have a beautiful drawing-like effect.

上星期發現UV光照效果不理想時，TC-1提花機上已經有另一件作品進行到一半，還是織完它，果然效果不佳，變成「臉不紅」的嬰兒。其實TC-1上面漂白的經線就是會產生強烈藍色的原因，並且會掩蓋其他色彩，所以不是改織紋結構就是換黑色經線。許多年前就想織一系列《臉紅》的作品，也織過幾件小習作，但是材料要從國外買，然後效果有時間性，就停擺了。這次又找到材料和燈管，希望再調整後能成功。雖然嬰兒臉不紅；但是不銹鋼緯線結合白經線產生一種鉛筆素描的效果，對我來說是很迷人的。

 

For this piece, I use Photoshop to design the Jacquard file. The weft is stainless steel. The face area is brocaded with UV yarn. Usually we weave a brocade piece with the back side up for easy shuttle throwing . Because I am afraid of the wrong lifting of TC-1, I weave it with the front side up.
這件有夾織的作品完全是用Photoshop設計織紋的。緯線是不銹鋼線，臉的部份有UV 線夾織進去。通常有夾織時，要正面朝下織，會比較好投梭。因為TC-1有些綜絲提起速度太慢常會有錯誤，所以還是正面朝上織。當然要投夾織的梭子時會比較不順手。
